“Hitting a 1590 came down to knowing the test inside and out. That’s what we teach Montara students: the patterns, the pacing, and the habits that separate a 1300 from a 1500+.”
The Cohort Difference
Our small-group cohort model isn’t just a format — it’s a deliberate learning environment that produces stronger results, deeper understanding, and the kind of energy that makes students actually show up and do the work.
Students who study alongside peers of similar ambition show up prepared, complete homework consistently, and push each other to improve. A cohort creates the kind of momentum that’s hard to manufacture on your own.
Hearing how other students approach the same question — and where they get stuck — builds deeper understanding. You learn the patterns, not just the answers, and you learn them faster.
The SAT is taken in a room full of students under pressure. Our cohort format builds comfort performing alongside peers, so test day feels familiar rather than isolating.
Small-group learning keeps costs grounded without compromising quality. You get an elite instructor, a motivated peer group, and a rigorous 8-week program — at a price that reflects real value.
How It Works
Learn alongside a focused group of motivated students. Our cohort-based structure creates accountability, peer learning, and the collaborative energy that solo tutoring can’t match.
Every course runs for 8 weeks, timed to end right before an official SAT test date so your student walks into the exam at peak preparation.
Live instructor-led sessions build core skills and strategy. Async modules let students reinforce concepts, practice problems, and move at their own pace between sessions.
Every student starts with a full-length diagnostic. We analyze the results to build a personalized study plan that targets their specific gaps first.
Regular practice tests, score reports, and parent updates keep everyone aligned on progress toward the target score.
Our instructors scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT. They know the test cold, and more importantly, they know how to teach it.

2026-27 Schedule
Our 8-week courses are timed to end right before each official SAT administration, so you’re at peak preparation when it counts.
Common Questions
Cohorts are intentionally small, typically 6–10 students. That gives every student meaningful attention from the instructor and enough peers to create genuine collaborative energy.
Every live session is recorded and paired with async modules covering the same material. Students who miss a session can catch up between classes without falling behind.
Our curriculum is built entirely around the digital SAT, the format used for all SAT administrations starting in 2024. Students practice in the exact conditions they’ll encounter on test day.
For most students, the 8-week course plus async practice is sufficient to reach their target score. Students with specific weak areas can add supplemental 1-on-1 sessions on request, but the majority don’t need it.
Plan for roughly 3–5 hours of self-directed practice per week: async modules, timed sections, and at least one full-length practice test every other week. Students who put in the work see the biggest gains.
Every Montara SAT instructor scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and was vetted through a rigorous hiring process. Most are graduate students at top universities who understand both the test and how to teach it.
